The picture below is of my great grandparents, my grandma and her siblings as they were heading from NY to the west coast. They were a farming family and continued to be, until they passed away. I have such fond memories of the farm, the animals, swings, salt licks, the smell of hay, being forced to work in the gardens, lots and lots of dishes, games of horseshoes and running free over the land that they owned with all of my cousins. They inspire my art even today.

My parents didn’t farm but we did live in the country most of my life. When I met my husband we lived in town but ended up in the country on 3.5 acres for several years. We tried our hand at animals (goats & chickens) but it really was a struggle and we realized it wasn’t at the top of the list of things we wanted to spend our time doing. We eventually moved back into the city.

And now fast forward many years… our youngest daughter and her family have realized their passion for farm animals and growing their own food! It’s been so fun to watch them and their chickens, ducks, and most currently 2 goats. The piece above is inspired by my grandson and his love for the chickens, gathering the eggs and being outdoors. It’s almost like our family has come full circle in a sort of way and I'm loving it! I’m sure my great grand and my grand are smiling down. :)
